eero, an Amazon company, donates $75,000 in financial support and 250 eero devices to extend connectivity for teaching and learning

CHICAGO – (July 1, 2026) – The City Colleges of Chicago Foundation today announced a contribution valued at $124,000 from eero, an Amazon company, including $75,000 in financial support and 250 eero Pro 6E devices. The contribution will support student scholarships and help strengthen internet connectivity for students, faculty and staff of City Colleges of Chicago, Illinois’ largest community college system.

The $75,000 gift will provide critical funding for scholarships, helping students stay enrolled and complete their academic and career goals. Additionally, eero has made an in-kind donation of 250 eero Pro 6E devices designed to extend and improve wireless coverage within existing internet networks, help reduce dead zones and enhance reliability across City Colleges of Chicago’s existing networks to support teaching and learning.

“We are grateful to eero for this generous contribution, which will help us better support the work of our colleges and the students we serve,” said Verónica Herrero, President of the City Colleges of Chicago Foundation. “By providing both financial resources and in-kind technology tools that can enhance connectivity, eero is helping to remove the barrier of cost to our students’ education and better connect our community to opportunity.”

The contribution comes as the eero team prepares to be in Chicago ahead of the 4th of July weekend for the eero 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway race, aligning with the company’s commitment to the local communities beyond the track.

“At eero, our vision is to provide every home with wifi that just works — and our commitment to Chicago goes beyond connectivity. As we prepare for the race at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, we wanted to make a meaningful investment in the students and educators who are shaping this community’s future,” said Nick Weaver, CEO and co-founder of eero. “We are proud to support City Colleges of Chicago through this contribution, to help ensure that reliable internet access and educational opportunity go hand in hand — so students can stay connected to the resources they need to succeed.”

Fueled by the generosity of Chicago’s philanthropic community, the City Colleges of Chicago Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, raises charitable contributions to support community college students from all backgrounds in reaching their academic and career goals.
