Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) PLEASE WEAR PURUPLE! Hosted by Project S.A.F.E, with special appearances from campus and external community partners

Purple Thursday is a day to show support for survivors of domestic violence and abuse, and to let them know that help is available. It takes place on the third Thursday of October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The color purple is a symbol of peace, courage, survival, honor, and dedication to ending violence. It may have become associated with this mission during the women’s suffrage movement, when thousands of women’s rights advocates wore purple in a march in Washington, D.C. in 1978.
