This event is one of sixteen dynamic breakout sessions that make up Innovate ’22, the City Colleges of Chicago Adult Education Conference taking place on June 10, 2022.

Session Title: The Four Quadrants of Equity in Adult Education

Presenter: Tasha Marks-Thigpen (Daley College)

Date and Time: June 10, 2022 from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m.

Description: The innovative practices presented in this workshop will benefit all disciplines needed to promote increased levels of access and equity in adult education. Participating educators will examine racial justice by using a framework that delves into achieving racial equality opposed to simply being aware of and placing a value on racial diversity. Participants will engage in collaborative discussions, view presentations, and broaden their scholarship while acquiring skills, tools, and strategies to achieve equity for all students.

We’ll focus on how leading with a racial equity and cultural awareness lens is an important element of a systematic plan to attain structural transformation, leading to equity for all. Educators will develop a personal practical action plan to assist in understanding the differences between equity and equality, ensuring all students are provided with the required support to be successful and achieve their goals.
