City Colleges’ Junior Developer JAVA Bootcamp is a 16-week intensive course that will help you build the knowledge and skills you need to succeed as a junior developer. Gain a deeper understanding of JAVA, databases, mobile apps, and the cloud (AWS) as you engage in hands-on learning led by experts in the IT field.
This bootcamp is designed to prepare students for in-demand, junior-level programming roles in a wide range of industries, including IT, banking, retail, government, and more.
Prerequisites for Success
In order to be successful in this class, you should have some basic programming or HTML/CSS experience.
You will also need your own computer and internet connection (a recent Chromebook or PC/laptop will be sufficient). Access to your own personal Android phone is an added benefit (not required).
Class Structure and Location
Starting on March 2, 2022, the Junior Developer JAVA Bootcamp will meet three times per week for 16 weeks. Class meetings will be held both in person and online to help you prepare for the new world of hybrid work.
- Wednesdays (Zoom/Remote Synchronous): 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Thursdays (In Person at Humboldt Park) 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Saturdays (In Person at Humboldt Park) 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
In person meetings will take place at Wright College’s Humboldt Park satellite campus, where students will be able to access state-of-the-art technology and lab spaces. The central Humboldt Park location includes parking and is easily accessible by public transit.
The current job market for junior programmers in Chicago and the surrounding area is very active. According to Built in Chicago, the most common annual salary for a junior software engineer is between $70,000 and $80,000.
