Olive-Harvey: Milton Olive Birthday Celebration

Loading Events

Join Olive-Harvey College to celebrate the birthday of one of our college namesakes, Milton Olive, who was a Vietnam War hero.

On October 22, 1965, while moving through the jungle with four fellow soldiers in Phu Cuong, Milton Olive, without hesitation, sacrificed his life and saved the lives of fellow soldiers by falling on a live grenade and absorbing the shock of the blast with his body. At a ceremony on the steps of the White House on April 21, 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson presented Olive’s Medal of Honor to his father and stepmother.
