The Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Training (SRMT) course introduces theories and practices of mindfulness meditation from contemplative science traditions. It explores how mindfulness and various contemplative techniques can enhance collaboration learning, address the fundamental ethical challenges of contemporary life, reduce stress, and relate to work experience. The course will also investigate neurological characteristics of stress: how it is developed and progresses to disease. Class sessions will involve practice in mindfulness meditation, hatha yoga, mental imagery, body awareness scanning, self-talk, walking meditation, and deep breathing techniques. Students will maintain and reflect on daily mindfulness meditation practice for the duration of the course.
