Megumi’s time in Adult Education classes at Malcolm X College helped advance her career. Now, it’s helping her achieve her long-term goal of conducting her research in English.
When Megumi was in school in her home country of Japan, she was good at English as a subject, meaning she could read and write English, but she couldn’t speak it at all.
When she discovered Malcolm X, she breathed a sigh of relief. She found free English as a Second Language classes in a safe atmosphere where she could learn and make mistakes. She felt comfortable.
These classes, according to Megumi, changed her life. Now that she’s a more confident English speaker, she’s taken advantage of opportunities to attend conferences and give presentations in English.
